Itinerary

Approximate duration: 8-9 hours.

Discover the amazing Khor Virap Monastery and Armenia as the first Christian country as well as the story behind the beginning of humanity.

Admire the best view of Ararat Biblical Mountain.

Discovering the ancient Birds Cave (Areni-1) is more than an extraordinary experience. Metal knives, fruit seeds, grain residues, rope, dishes, clothing, dried grapes and plums, dated to 4200-3500 BC, were found in the cave. The oldest leather shoe in the world was also found here. It is more than 5500 years old. Also, in the same area, the world’s oldest women’s skirt (3900 BC) was found. The winery found here is considered to be the oldest one in the world and it is referred to 4th millennium BC.

Visit Noravank, a 13th-century Armenian monastery, located in a narrow gorge made by the Amaghu River. The gorge is known for its tall, sheer, brick-red cliffs, directly across from the monastery. The monastery's two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) church, which grants access to the second floor by way of a narrow stone-made staircase jutting out from the face of the building, is one of the earliest examples of cantilever architecture (optional experience, provided with an additional fee).

The spa town of Jermuk is a popular vacation spot due to its precious mineral water treatment sanitoriums and amazing nature. You can discover the main attractions of Jermuk for an additional fee.
